Freeroam #2 Content Update

This update brings more content, improvements to races and minigames, an interface for creating and joining parties, and plenty of other QoL fixes/improvements.

 

• Added zone and lobby restrictions for vMenu to the PvP lobby - you will now need to be in a passive (green) zone to access vMenu (by @nex)
  • More passive zones will be coming soon to make this new change more worthwhile in having it
  • This was implemented to make the PvP lobby more PvP-focused, before XP is implemented for kills and streaks
     
• Added a new, easy-to-use interface for creating, joining and managing parties (by @nex)
  • You can access this by pressing F5 (changeable via Settings) or going through the server hub (see below for new additions also)
     
• Added the Fort Zancudo layout (and others) to the map at all times (by @logan)
  • These types of places will now show at all times on the map!
     
• Added sound effects to notifications in the top-right of the screen (by @nex)
  • This should hopefully make them more noticeable... or annoying
     
• Added the Redline Performance shop with a VIP showroom (by @nex)
  • The VIP showroom contains three of the new supporter-exclusive vehicles, one from each tier
     
• Fixed a bug where the speedometer would still be shown above a faded-out screen (by @nex)
• Fixed a bug where the F8 console would be spammed by missing entity messages (by @StOneR)
• Fixed (hopefully) the bug where nitrous particles disappear after some time (by @nex)
• Improved the lobbies and server hub UIs to set your mouse cursor to centre-screen on open (by @nex)

 

 

Server Hub Changes:

 

• Added several new buttons/tiles/panels to the server hub for ease-of-access (by @nex)

  • You can now change your speedometer settings through the hub, without the use of commands

  • The (legacy) emote menu and new party management interface (PUI) can also now be accessed through the hub

  • Tip: hover your mouse cursor over the small icons in the top-right of the server hub tiles for some useful information!
     

• Fixed a bug where some icons on server hub panels wouldn't appear (by @nex

• Fixed a bug where trying to toggle passive mode via the tile would result in a confusing 'None' error notification popping-up (by @nex)

 

 

Race / Minigame Changes:

 

• Added street races from the Tuners DLC (by @logan & @StOneR)
• Added support for races having laps, which are defaulted to 3, but dependant on the race (by @logan & @StOneR)
• Added race-specific weather and time overrides for maximum immersion (by @logan)
• Added race creator details for credit and other pieces of information in the bottom-right panel of the voting screen (by @logan)
• Added proper handling for when party leaders and/or members join a race (by @logan)
• Fixed a bug where the handling preset keybind would still be able to be activated while in a minigame (by @StOneR)
• Improved the logic behind checkpoints, making them less-likely to bug-out (by @logan)
• Improved the logic behind position tracking (by @StOneR)

Below are some screenshots of the new interface for parties, detailing what each part looks like depending on your role.

Main Menu - A list of public (unless invited to any private) active parties in the server

 

Use the search box for finding players, or specific party types ('Car Meet' in the screenshot above).

 

 

Leader Party View - A list of members within your party, with controls for managing permissions/moderators, kicking, banning, etc

 

Setting your party to "cruise" or "car meet" will represent what type of party it is for people to find it easier in the main menu.

 

 

The moderators view is very similar to the Leader's view, but without the Permissions menu.

 

A button for viewing and lifting the bans of your party will be coming soon, so stay tuned for that.

We also plan to add party avatar pictures for party members at some point (which will be taken from Steam), but right now, the pictures are placeholders.

 

Private parties will not be shown on the main menu, unless the player(s) that are browsing it have been invited to them.

Parties that you've been invited to will also show right at the top above all-else.

 

Default sorting for the parties list in the main menu is based on player count - so the more members you have in your party, the higher it will be.
