Griz's Guide to VMenu Colors

Recommended Posts

For those of you who read my post in the Tutorials and Guides forum channel in the Discord, scroll down to the bottom to see a list of resources you can use for your color adventure! For those who are reading this for the first time, read below.

For those of you who don't know, RSM's variant of VMenu in game allows for custom colors through an RGB slider for your vehicles alongside neon. There is a slight catch though; Rockstar's version of RGB for GTA V is different than the standard version of RGB we usually see or work with a lot of the time.

For those of who didn't know:

- RGB is one of many color models that identifies colors and is the most common. RGB means Red Green Blue and can take values from 0-255. R*'s version of RGB (atleast from a VMenu standpoint) ranges from 1-255. Standard RGB and R*'s RGB are different from each other, so using a Standard RGB code in GTA V will make the color look different ingame compared to on the web or in other games.

- RGB sliders can be accessed for the primary and secondary colors alongside neon (excluding rainbow). Unfortunately, it doesn't support custom pearlescent tones, wheel colors, and dash/interior colors, only those have the stock 76 colors.

Lets start with how to transfer colors from standard RGB to R*'s RGB:

  1. Using a color picker (Google has one, but there are better or simpler solutions), select the color you want. See Picture 1.
  2. Using the source linked below, make a copy of the spreadsheet below, and input the code in the yellow highlighted areas. See Picture 2.
  3. In the pink highlighted area is the result of the colors, copy/remember those numbers. See Picture 3.
  4. In the RSM FiveM server, open VMenu and go to Vehicle Related Options>Vehicle Options>Vehicle Colors, select "Custom Primary Color" and "Custom Secondary Color" and insert the new RGB code value into the primary and secondary color RGB slots by highlighting and pressing "Enter" on Keyboard or "A" on Controller. See Picture 4.

Here are some tips to help you out in the future:

  •  Make a palette (list) of colors you know you would use often/semi-frequently.
  •  If you're replicating manufacturer colors, find an RGB value for your desired manufacturer color (i.e Spoon Yellow, Bayside Blue, etc.)
  •  Experiment with the RGB system ingame and as well an RGB slider (Google has one if you search up "RGB Slider", if you use Photoshop or Paint Dot Net you can use them too)
  •  There are other color models, like HSV, HSL, etc. Use a color converter or a color picker to translate HSL, HSV, HEX, etc to RGB
