This update adds optimization for both the players and server, improvements for apartments and zones, and more.

 

  • 🔄 Added support for dynamically updating zones without restarting the server (by @nex)
    • This allows us to add/remove zones while the server is running.
    • To be used in a future update where there will be central meet and PvP zones that automatically move every so often.
       
  • 😫 Added preparation code for the upcoming nicknames feature (by @nex & @StOneR)
    • This is an internal change like the one above, and is noted here to confirm the previously-discussed nicknames feature.
       
  • ❓ Added a new onboarding and tutorial process that should help new players fit into the server (by @nex)
    • This is temporary until we can get around to implementing a proper UI for it.
    • The goal here is mainly to provide players with at least something to get them started.
       
  • 🛠️ Added optimization to long-range player blips (by @nex)
    • This should improve server stability enough for it to not cause mass-timeouts at 650+ players.
    • A proper fix for this will be implemented later this week in a later update (it's at high-priority).
       
  • 🛠️ Added optimization to vMenu's way of loading teleport locations (by @StOneR)
    • Teleport locations for vMenu were loaded over the network, increasing bandwidth usage for both us and you.
    • We've moved this to a client-sided file that is able to be cached on the client.
       
  • 🛠️ Added optimization to the Ammu-Nation stores around the map (by @logan)
    • It turns out that the way loadouts were saved and loaded when you reconnected, was not as optimized as it should be.
    • We've added several tweaks to greatly improve performance, which in turn improves FPS.
       
  • Adjusted the shot cooldown for snipers - players complained that it was too long and hindered gameplay (by @nex)
  • Adjusted the cooldown for the Up-n-Atomizer - same reason as above (by @nex)
  • Fixed a bug where the instructional buttons in the bottom-right of the wasted shard wouldn't update their indices properly (by @nex)

 

 

Apartment Changes:

  • Added limitations to accepted links to only support trusted platforms - i.e YouTube (by @StOneR & @logan)
  • Added more optimization to the threading of apartments (by @StOneR)
  • Adjusted the 3D audio emitted by the media player to sound better (by @StOneR)
  • Adjusted the logic of apartments to dynamically load/unload interiors as they become relevant (by @StOneR)
  • Fixed multiple bugs and overall improved the feature (by @StOneR & @logan)
